Rain test: the All-Weather Backpack
Illustrative: a creator pours water over the $179.00 backpack, then unpacks a day of gear from the 30-liter space and says the hook out loud.

Track record
Former COO of Tabs. I built its creator program to 100M monthly social impressions, and the paid ad engine alongside it. The numbers below come from videos that program produced.
Same playbook as at Tabs: a creator program and the paid engine built side by side, with one number to protect. The category is different. Filson sells outdoor apparel and bags, and I have not run this category. I would learn the product from your team and the claims sheet before the first brief goes out.

Why now
1897
A legacy to film
Filson describes itself as building a legacy of quality and durability since 1897. Creators can show that in wear, not in slogans.
Published$99
A shipping line creators can use
Filson offers free economy shipping on U.S. orders over $99. A creator can say it, with the U.S. limit attached.
Published$179.00
A bag that demos on camera
The All-Weather Backpack lists at $179.00 with a 30-liter capacity. A pour-water test and a pack-out show both on screen.

Principles
One number to protect
Cost per 1,000 views, target $1. The simulator shows $5.74 at the starting guesses. The program starts with that gap and reports it every Monday.
Seven videos per creator, every week
Volume means 303 videos a month at 10 creators. One variable per test, losers killed early, and the hook library grows each week.
Claims sheet before the camera
Creators quote Filson's own words, like the 30-liter backpack line. Nothing on weather survival, safety or comparisons with other brands.
One channel, answers the same day
Briefs, claim questions, drafts and reports live in one team workspace. A video that breaks the claims sheet earns no bonus.

Briefs, drafts, reviews and the weekly numbers
MarenMon 8:30 AM
This week's brief: the All-Weather Backpack, $179.00, 30-liter. Seven videos. Hook in the first line, one variable per test. Claims sheet is pinned.
TheoTue 10:15 AM
Can I say the backpack is waterproof in my rain test?
No. Use Filson's line: the polyester fabric is coated with TPU for water resistance. Show the pour, skip the promise.
Report botAppMon 9:00 AM
Weekly report posted: videos live per creator, views, cost per 1,000 views against the $1 target, top three hooks, claims flagged.
MarenWed 2:40 PM
Draft sent back: the hat video says it protects against sun damage. Cut that line, keep the three-inch flat brim shade line from the sheet, and resend.
PriyaThu 6:05 PM
My Mackinaw Wool Cruiser Jacket video just passed 100,000 views. All organic, no boost.
Bonus flagged at $50, one per creator per month. Sending the video to the paid test list.
Report botAppFri 11:00 AM
Check: seven videos logged this week for Theo. Claims sheet matched on every video, disclosure present, no category flags.
The messages illustrate the working channel, with invented people: briefs go out on Monday, claims questions get an answer the same day, and nothing posts without the check.
Part 5 of 15
Formats

Brief 01
Backpack rain test
“Rain test: the All-Weather Backpack, 30-liter, TPU-coated.”
Handheld, outdoors. Pour water over the bag, open it, pack the day's gear into the 30-liter space. No cuts on the pour.

Brief 02
Hat in the sun
“The three-inch flat brim shades your face, neck, and ears.”
Midday light, selfie angle. Show the Open Sky Hat on a trail or porch, then turn to profile for the pinch-front crown.

Brief 03
Guide shirt wear test
“I wore the Lightweight Alaskan Guide Shirt all week.”
One outfit, one location per day, cut together. Say the $139.00 price once, near the end. Show the shirt after real use.

Brief 04
Pocket tour
“Dry Tin Cloth 5-Pocket Pants, $159.00. Pocket tour.”
Tripod at waist height. Fill each pocket with something real from a work or yard day, then walk the job in the pants.

Brief 05
Jacket worth-it
“Mackinaw Wool Cruiser Jacket, $599.00. Is it worth it?”
Talk to camera outdoors in the jacket. Cover the wool, the fit and how it layers. Give an honest verdict, with no health or safety claims.
Every product line in a video comes off the claims sheet word for word, for example “Building a legacy of quality and durability since 1897.”, “The polyester fabric is coated with TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) for water resistance.”, “This water-resistant, durable hat is lined with 100% virgin wool for sweat-wicking insulation.”. Product names are said as printed.
Part 6 of 15
Recruiting
Four sources in
Outdoor and workwear creators
Short-form creators who already post real use: hiking, fishing, yard work, workshop days. I look at how they use gear, not how polished the edit is.
Search by product
Search short-form video for backpacks, Tin Cloth pants, wool jackets and brimmed hats. Creators who already review that kind of gear go to the top of the list.
Store events
Events like the Seattle Flagship Factory Tour or Custom Chainstitching in Vancouver draw people who film their day. They are warm leads, asked politely.
Affiliate or ambassador page
I did not find an affiliate or ambassador page on the site. The roster starts from direct outreach, with the claims sheet and pay bands in the first message.
Five filters, fewer each step
1Real outdoor use
Posts show gear used outside, not a studio with a logo in frame.
2Claims discipline
Can read the claims sheet back and stay inside it. One test question settles it.
3Weekly output
Can hold seven videos a week through the six-week ramp and after.
4U.S. audience
Audience mostly in the U.S., where free shipping over $99 applies.
5Clean record
No bought views, no past posts that break the category rules.
Part 7 of 15
Who
Day hiker
Carries a full day of gear and cares about rain. Fits the pour-water test and the pack-out.
Likely product: All-Weather Backpack - Tundra Shrub Camo
Office-to-trail commuter
Carries papers and a laptop to work in a bag that looks serious. Fits a what's-in-my-bag video.
Likely product: Rugged Twill Original Briefcase - Black
Sun-day traveler
Summer trips, long days outside, hats as part of the outfit.
Likely product: Filson X Stetson Open Sky Hat - Natural
Workshop and yard builder
Works with their hands and wants pants with pockets that earn their keep.
Likely product: Dry Tin Cloth 5-Pocket Pants - Whiskey
Cold-morning layerer
Talks fit and layering on camera. Fits the honest jacket verdict.
Likely product: Mackinaw Wool Cruiser Jacket - Charcoal
Weekend angler
River days, gear in the car, shirts that get worn every week.
Likely product: Lightweight Alaskan Guide Shirt - Midnight Navy
Left off, every time
Always left out: anyone who makes health or safety claims, accounts with bought views, creators who also promote a rival outdoor brand on the same channel, hunting or firearm content without approval, and anyone who will not work from the claims sheet.

Part 9 of 15
Claims sheet
Approved, word for word
Quoted exactly as the brand publishes it.
“Filson unfailing goods are made with the best materials and craftsmanship.”
Brand intro in any video; never as a comparison with another brand.
“Building a legacy of quality and durability since 1897.”
Heritage line in the opening or close of any format.
“Our All-Weather Backpack is ideal for gear transport in any weather.”
Backpack rain test and pack-out videos.
“The polyester fabric is coated with TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) for water resistance.”
Backpack rain test, said while the water is poured.
“With a 30-liter carrying capacity there’s ample room for the day’s gear.”
Pack-out and what's-in-my-bag videos.
“This water-resistant, durable hat is lined with 100% virgin wool for sweat-wicking insulation.”
Tin Cloth Wildfowl Hat videos only.
“We offer free economy shipping on U.S. orders over $99.”
Calls to action for U.S. audiences only.
Never said
Each one with the reason it stays out.
Never say the backpack is waterproof
A stronger performance word than the one Filson uses for that bag.
Never say it will last forever
A durability promise with no source on the site.
Never say Filson is the best outdoor brand
A comparison with other brands that cannot be backed up.
Never say the jacket is warmer than a named rival
A head-to-head comparison with no test behind it.
Never say the hat protects your skin from sun damage
A health outcome. The site only speaks of shade.
Never say free shipping works for every country
The brand excludes international orders from free shipping.
Never say the marked-down price lasts all season
An invented deadline and price promise.
To confirm with the brand
Held until someone on the brand side signs off.
Made in USA wording on a specific product
The site has a menu label, but no product line confirms it. Ask the brand before a creator says it.
Marked-down prices on specific items
Reduced prices change. Confirm the current price on the day of filming.
Part 10 of 15
Pay
Starter
$300–600
a month, by band
Starter: new creators learning the hooks. Lower base, lower cap, room to move up.
Bonus at the cap: $300
Standard
$500–1,000
a month, by band
Standard: steady weekly output and a clean claims record. Middle base and middle cap.
Bonus at the cap: $500
Premium
$800–1,500
a month, by band
Premium: proven reach and a clean record. Highest base and cap, bonus still organic only.
Bonus at the cap: $700
Under 100,000 views
$0
The base pay covers the work.
+$50 flat
Whatever the band.
Top-up to your cap
Bonus = band cap − base pay.
- One bonus per creator per month, however many videos pass 100,000 views.
- The bonus is paid per video, as a flat $50 on the video that passes 100,000 views.
- Organic views only. Boosted or paid views do not count toward the threshold.
- No bonus on a video that broke the claims sheet or the category rules, even if it took off.
Starter: $600 cap − $300 fee = $300 bonus; Standard: $1,000 cap − $500 fee = $500 bonus; Premium: $1,500 cap − $800 fee = $700 bonus.
The bonus pays for reach after the work is done, never instead of it. One bonus per creator per calendar month keeps it an incentive and keeps the program cost predictable.
Part 11 of 15
Simulator
At the starting guesses the program lands at $5.74 per 1,000 views against the $1 target. To hit it, 4.2% of videos must go viral, or the median video must reach 21,711 views.

Above the $1 target at these inputs.
To hit $1, the roster needs about 10.1M views a month. That means about 4.2% of videos going viral, or a median near 22K views per video. That is why the day-90 gate exists: keep the accounts that clear it, replace the rest.
Proposed, not measured. Views = videos × median, breakouts at 10× the median, viral at 750K. Bonus: +$50 for a viral video, one per creator per month.
Part 11 of 15, continued
What moves the result
| If the median is | Views / month | Monthly cost | Cost / 1K | Hits target |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 750 | 1.4M | $10,050 | $6.96 | No |
| 1,500 | 1.8M | $10,050 | $5.74 | No |
| 3,000 | 2.4M | $10,050 | $4.24 | No |
| If the viral share is | Views / month | Monthly cost | Cost / 1K | Hits target |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.3% | 1.2M | $10,000 | $8.44 | No |
| 0.5% | 1.8M | $10,050 | $5.74 | No |
| 1% | 2.9M | $10,150 | $3.52 | No |
The math. Videos a month = 10 creators × 7 a week × 52 ÷ 12 = 303. Views per video = (1 − 4% − 0.5%) × 1,500 + 4% × 10 × 1,500 + 0.5% × 750,000 = 5,782.5; 303 videos × 5,782.5 = 1.8M views a month. Cost = 10 × $1,000 = $10,000 base + 1 bonus × $50 = $10,050. Cost per 1,000 views = $10,050 ÷ 1.8M × 1,000 = $5.74 against a $1.00 target. To hit the target, either 4.2% of videos go viral or the median video reaches 21,711 views, other inputs held.
Move the sliders and the label recalculates. The result is only as good as the guesses behind it, so the median views, the share of breakouts and the share of viral videos are marked as Assumptions until the first month of posts replaces them.

Warm-up
Claims sheet and first brief
Claims sheet from Filson's own words, hook library started, first brief on the All-Weather Backpack. Two creators go live; no paid boosts yet.
Month 1
Ramp to the full roster
Two creators join each week until 10 are live in six weeks. Each posts 7 videos a week. Losers killed early; one variable per test.
Month 2
Full roster, 303 videos
All 10 live, 303 videos a month. Winning hooks go to the library, and the best organic videos are tested as paid under the four-step path.
Month 3
Move creators between bands
Output and claims record decide who moves up. The $50 bonus past 100,000 views stays organic only. Weak formats are cut.
Day 90
Keep, change or stop
Review cost per 1,000 views against the $1 target ($5.74 at the starting guesses). Decide on the numbers, not on how the videos feel.
Monthly ceiling
$15,000 at the top cap
All 10 creators at the top cap of $1,500 comes to $15,000 a month, bonuses excluded. That is the ceiling I would hold the program to.
$15,000 Monthly ceiling, all 10 creators at the top cap, bonuses excluded Proposed
The roster grows by two creators a week, so hook performance can be read week over week instead of by anecdote.

Organic to paid
From organic to paid
Organic first
Every video posts organically with no spend. Views, hook and watch time are logged in the Monday report.
Pick the winners
Videos past 100,000 views, plus the best hooks by hold rate, go on a shortlist. Weak videos are dropped early.
Clear the rights
Written permission from the creator to boost, and a second claims check on the final cut.
Run it as a paid test
The shortlisted video runs as its own paid test, one variable at a time, against the same $1 target.
From the video to the checkout
- Backpack videos link to the All-Weather Backpack page, with the 30-liter line on screen.
- Free shipping over $99 is stated for U.S. orders only.
- International audiences: leave the free shipping line out.
- Store event videos, such as the Seattle Flagship Factory Tour, link to the event page.
- Marked-down items: confirm the current price on the page before posting.
Part 15 of 15
Category rules
Outdoor apparel and bags: what creators must follow
Filson sells jackets, shirts, hats and bags people wear outdoors. The risk is overpromising on weather and safety, so every claim stays in the brand's words.
Water-resistant, nothing stronger
Use the brand's wording: coated with TPU for water resistance. Do not upgrade it on camera, and do not stage a test that implies a bag survives anything.
No safety or survival promises
A jacket or a hat is not a safety tool. Never imply gear keeps someone safe in the cold, the wild or on a job site.
No health claims
Shade from a brim is the brand's wording. Skin protection, injury prevention and similar outcomes are not.
Prices exactly as shown
Say prices as the site shows them, such as $599.00. For marked-down items, check the page the day you film.
Shipping with its limit
Free shipping over $99 applies to U.S. orders. Never say it to an international audience.
Disclose and show real use
Every video carries a clear paid-partnership label. Hunting or firearm content needs written approval from the brand first.
The brand’s legal team sets the final rules. This is the operating floor I’d start from, not legal advice.
